THE OCCASIONS

For the moments that matter

Retirement

After a long career, a rod made by hand and engraved with your words. The gift people remember long after the speeches.

Anniversaries

Ten, twenty or thirty years with the firm, or the firm's own milestone, marked with an heirloom rather than an object.

Clients and directors

A thank you for a client, a partner or a board member who fishes, made to their own length, line weight and colours.

The person who has everything

Very few people own a rod split, planed and built by hand from Tonkin cane. Fewer still own one made for them.

GIVEN ON THE DAY

Presented as a gift certificate

Most kits are given as a signed certificate on heavy card, posted or emailed in time for the presentation. Chris then speaks to the recipient and the kit is made for them.

“Beautifully made and presented, traditional British rod making.”

THE CRAFT

Made by hand, kept for life

Each rod is made by hand from aged Tonkin cane and cast before it leaves us. Split cane rod making is on the Heritage Crafts Red List as an endangered craft, so every rod helps keep it alive. Our rods have been sold at Farlows of Pall Mall for ten years, and Chris Clemes was one of “The Makers” featured in British Airways First magazine.

QUESTIONS

Before you ask

How long does it take?

The rod and kit are made to order, typically in two to three months. The gift certificate can be ready within days, so it can be presented on the day.

What if they already own a lot of tackle?

That is usually the point. A handmade cane rod is the one most anglers never buy for themselves.

Do they need to fish with cane?

No. Chris talks to the recipient about where and how he fishes and makes the rod to suit, whether small streams, chalkstreams or larger rivers.

Can it be engraved?

Yes. Your dedication goes on a brass plate inside the case and a name or message is written on the rod.

Can you deliver outside the UK?

Yes. Delivery is insured and quoted at the time of shipping, to the UK, South Africa and worldwide.

How do we pay?

By invoice with your PO number, or by card. A receipt is sent on payment.
